The heat and humidity have forced more and more New York State residents to use power for air conditioners and fans and as a result, an energy Alert has been issued.

As of late Tuesday, an emergency grid warning was issued.

"An Energy Warning for June 24 has been issued due to a decline in operating reserves. The grid is operating normally at this time but emergency operations may be initiated to maintain system reliability".

We have been trying to conserve energy at our home by raising the temperature on the air conditioner and closing the blinds and shades on the windows. It seems to make a difference and the air in the house is not that uncomfortable with only a minor adjustment to the temp.

The weather service is calling for changes in the next two days.
