21 Old Movie Theatres We Loved In Western New York
Winter here in Western New York can be cold, dark and dreary. The icy, freezing cold weather can seem like it lasts forever.
Lucky for us, it’s a perfect time to escape the Buffalo chill and head to the movies!
Winter is the perfect time of year to spend time at your favorite local theatre. For one thing, there’s a ton of great films out right now, many of which are nominated for the upcoming Oscars. What better excuse to escape the cold for a few hours to get “cultured”?
And for parents with kids, a trip to the movies can be a lifesaver. That massive screen has the potential to keep them entertained for just long enough so Mom and/or Dad can get a taste of some much-needed peace.

The one bummer about heading to the theatre in 2025 is how expensive it can be. Between the cost of ticket prices and those insanely pricey concessions, it could cost a family a small fortune.
Remember back in the day when going to the movies would only cost a few bucks? Those were the days.

We’ve all got a favorite movie theater we loved during our childhood. When we asked on social media which theatres brought back happy memories of being a kid, Buffalo residents didn’t hold back - naming their favorite local theatres of yesteryear from Rochester to Niagara Falls.
Sadly, many of those theaters are long gone, but the thought of the movies you saw there with friends and family brings back some serious nostalgia.
Here are the Western New York movie theaters we loved going to when we were a child. Did your favorite theatre make the list?
