Growing up in Amherst, the Northtown Plaza has always felt more like an afterthought. There wasn't much going on there in the early-to-mid 2000's, let alone the past few years where it looked like a ghost town.

Those days are officially over.

According to WGRZ, groundbreaking has begun on the Northtown Plaza site by developers who will build a whole new lifestyle center, designed to have retailers, recreation and even residential areas.

The new center will be called "Station Twelve."

Some of the retailers that will be part of "Station Twelve" include LL Bean, William Sonoma, Pottery Barn and Banana Republic. The Boulevard Mall nearby is also being transferred into a Lifestyle Center.

The center will also include ice skating. Station Twelve is expected to open late 2020 or early 2021.
