Now, we have a concrete plan approved for enhancements to the Outer Harbor in Buffalo.

According to WGRZ, the Outer Harbor the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation announced an enhancement project for the Outer Harbor that will cost a total of $150 million, over a 20-year period.

Phase One of the project could start as soon as next year, and will cost $45 million.

Among the new features will be greater access to the water, more open space and comfort stations. Specifically, Phase One will also include aquatic habitat to be created in Slip #3, rehabilitation of Terminal B, and even a future site for concerts!

“This tremendous step forward for the Outer Harbor lays out our plans for this unique piece of land and how we will accomplish them,” said ECHDC Chairman Robert Gioia.
