People in Cheektowaga Are MAD These Are All Over
People in Cheektowaga are ticked.
They actually have been concerned/mad about these for some time.
This year, the Town of Cheektowaga has seen things that look like cameras on poles all over some of the popular roads. It is called the Flock System and they are trying to help with people stealing cars. The license plate and data to the National Criminal Intelligence Center for real-time information on stolen vehicles.
Apparently, the data is only stored for 30 days and then deleted.
People are mad about it in Cheektowaga. Of course, you don't want your information stored and shared all over the place. Though, it is a great tool. If your car is stolen, you would absolutely love this new system to find your car fast. According to WGRZ:
The town initially installed 10 of the Flock system license plate readers in 2022. The readers were in years past mounted on police cars to detect drivers with traffic violations. But the expanded technology allows more accessible data which is carefully controlled and monitored for motorists' privacy concerns.
