Get ready for Buffalo to be back in the Instagram spotlight. A favorite for an Instagram photo has returned home.

Shark girl has called Buffalo her home since 2014 when she was brought here from the banks of the Ohio River by Albright-Knox Art Gallery. Since then she has become an Instagram hit as people from all over the world have stopped to snap a photo with the little girl with a shark head.

WHO/WHAT IS SHARKGIRL?

Sharkgirl was created by American artist Casey Riordan Millard and has been featured in her work since 2004. The fiberglass statue that now resides in Canalside was the first public sculpture by the artist.

NOW THAT SHE IS BACK, WHERE DID SHE GO?

Sharkgirl took a mini-vacation to get some must needed spa time and get some restoration done. That happened just before much of Western New York shut down due to COVID-19 and with Sharkgirl being a highly touched item at Canalside, officials there decided to keep her at the spa until this week.

WHAT DONE TO SHARKGIRL DURING HER SPA TREATMENT?

Well, you may know that Buffalo and Western New York are known to get some snow and ice. During her "Spa" treatment, Sharkgirl got some new coatings of paint, a touchup on some of the wear on her body, and the rock that she is perched on also got some touch-up work.

WHERE CAN I FIND SHARKGIRL?

She is back at the same location she was before heading to the spa. She is near the Explore and More Children's Museum at Canalside.

DOES IT COST ANYTHING TO TAKE A PHOTO WITH SHARKGIRL?

Nope..photos with Sharkgirl are free. Officials just ask that you observe social distancing guidelines as you wait to grab your photo
