Star NFL Player Turns Down Money to Sign With the Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills weren't able to grab a wide receiver in the first four rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft, which many fans wanted them to do, but they did take the best receiving tight end in the class; Utah's Dalton Kincaid in round one (25th overall).
Buffalo did draft Florida's Justin Shorter in round five, but one thing that general manager Brandon Beane mentioned in his post-draft press conference was that they weren't able to draft a defensive tackle.
That was the only thing that Buffalo failed to do in the entire draft. However, they decided to turn their focus to free agency for another defensive tackle and that addition is very much, noteworthy.
Tom Pelissero is reporting that the Bills are signing defensive tackle Poona Ford. In fact, Ford turned down more money from other teams because he wanted to win a Super Bowl with the Bills.
The Bills just made it official.
Ford was an undrafted free agent in 2018 out of Texas, but don't let his draft status fool you -- he's a great defensive tackle, who is a disrupter in the backfield and the line of scrimmage.
The Bills now have another stud on the defensive line, which is now a strength of the team.
Their defensive line will include:
- Ed Oliver (DT)
- Poona Ford (DT)
- DaQuan Jones (DT)
- Jordan Phillips (DT)
- Tim Settle (DT)
- Von Miller (edge)
- Greg Rousseau (edge)
- A.J. Epenesa (edge)
- Boogie Basham (edge)
- Shaq Lawson (edge)
This is now a reality, that players want to come to the Bills because they want to win a championship. As long as Josh Allen is playing quarterback and in his prime, that will be the case.
