Rob Gronkowski Delivers Surprising Comments About Buffalo, New York
Former New England Patriot Rob Gronkowski surprised people with what he had to say about Buffalo and the people who live here at a special ceremony last night.
The Greater Buffalo Sports Hall Of Fame Is Loaded With Big Names
Last night was the induction ceremony for the newest members of the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame. There are 378 people who have already been inducted into the hall since it began in 1991. It's not just athletes in this hall of fame either. While there are a good number of former Buffalo Bills and Sabres, you'll also see writers, TV personalities, broadcasters and more. Names like Jim Kelly, Rick Jeanneret, Pat LaFontaine, and Bob Lanier are enshrined here.
This year's class included people like writer Vic Carucci, hockey player Brooks Orpik, former New England Patriot tight end Rob Gronkowski, and more. It was the comments from Gronkowski that may have raised some eyebrows for people of Buffalo. It's not that they were at all out of order. They weren't really even all that unexpected. But it just felt kind of weird to hear him say them.
While speaking with reporters, Gronkowski gushed about what an honor it was to be inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, and it is. You've seen the company that he is included with now. He added that it was the blue collar mentality of the people of Buffalo that he carried with him throughout his career that helped him to be who he was on the field. For those who don't know, Rob Gronkowski and his brothers (who also had careers in football) were raised here in Western New York.
Gronkowski added this surprising comment about the Buffalo Bills
He also said that he was a Buffalo Bills fan growing up. Of course he couldn't admit that when he was playing for one of the Bills' division rivals in New England. The surprising part was that he said he was a fan of the Bills again now that he's not with the Patriots. It just feels as though after playing in the division against them for so long that it would be engrained in him to dislike the Bills. But evidently once you're a Bills fan, you're a Bills fan for life.
Congrats to Gronkowski and the rest of the class of 2024 on their induction into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame. It's a well-deserved honor for all of them.
