The Erie County Fair kicks off today and a big part of the fair is all the agriculture that is around Western New York.

One of the cool features is that people from all over Western New York will drop off their vegetables to be judged during the fair in the AG Center. This year, I am one of those people even though I have what is known as a "killer thumb". That means I pretty much kill everything I try to grow.

So when I was asked to be part of a media tomato growing competition, I laughed and asked, "Really me?? You know that I don't a thing about growing stuff, plus I don't like tomatoes!"

But, it was true, they wanted me to be part of the Growing Aces competition. I was given two tomato plants, some dirt and told to do my best. I was given my plants at the beginning of June and had two months to grow some tomatoes.

How did it go? Well, I had to submit two tomatoes to be part of the competition and I grew exactly two tomatoes. Yep, in two months I was able to coax my plants into producing two tomatoes.

You can see and vote for my 'maters when you stop by the fair this year. Just look for the Growing Aces table in the AG Center...also you can check out the amazing growing skills of some of the best media people in Buffalo.

If you like to see how my tomato plants "Tommy" and "Tammy" started and how they ended up check out the photos below.
