Wegmans sent an email out to customers yesterday explaining that two of their systems used were not protected from outside sources..

WHAT HAPPENED? 

According to the email sent to customers by Wegmans, as of April 19th, 2021, two cloud-based databases that the company uses for internal purposes were not protected from possible access from outside parties.

WHAT DATA WAS IN THOSE DATABASES? 

The information that could have been compromised was names, addresses, phone numbers, birth dates, shopper club members, and email addresses and passwords to Wegmans.com accounts.

NOW, WHAT DO I DO? 

You should change your password for the Wegmans.com website and for any other accounts that use the same password.

WHAT IS WEGMAN'S DOING TO FIX THE PROBLEM

Currently, the company is working with an outside cybersecurity company to make sure any accounts that were compromised are being monitored. Also, the company has announced that the cloud-based programs were that use has been reconfigured and the problem that could of lead to a data breach has been fixed.

The company also said that you can contact the Federal Trade Commission if you are worried about identity theft.

Wegmans also said that if customers have any questions about the possible data breach they can call the company at 1-855-535-1851.
