Great News For EVERY Driver In Western New York
There is some great news for drivers in Western New York as one of the busiest, and arguably most dangerous, intersections has a new traffic arrow! If you have ever driven in the Hamburg area, near the Erie County Fairgrounds, and have waited at the light at Clark and McKinley and had to make a turn, it is now much easier and more safe!
The Erie County Fair has come and gone for 2025 and it was one of the most attended and successful yet. For those who live and work around the Fairgrounds, the 12 days of the fair are a little more challenging with the addition of thousands more cars in the area coming and going to the Fair. The Hamburg area has seen more and more growth over the last few years and an increase in the amount of daily traffic.
For years, residents have been waiting for a new signal that would help drivers to make a safe left turn on to McKinley from Clark Street and now the wait it over.
While the construction at the intersection does not see to be fully complete, the new turn lane arrow is functioning and it was so great to make the turn without waiting for oncoming traffic to finish before making the turn.
If you are a resident of this area, you likely agree that this was way overdue. Next up will be the addition of the new pedestrian crosswalk on McKinley at the intersection of Mark. The signs are up and appear to be ready for use. I imagine that the crosswalk lines will be painted soon and hopefully be ready for use when the kids start school in a few days.
