BREAKING NEWS: Bonnie Tyler Has Passed Away at 75

There is some sad news today as legendary singer Bonnie Tyler, best known for her iconic hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” has died at the age of 75.

The song has remained one of the most recognizable hits of the last several decades, especially whenever a solar or lunar eclipse takes place. Here in Western New York, it seemed like the song was everywhere during the total solar eclipse a couple of years ago, playing on radio stations, in restaurants, and at celebrations leading up to the historic event.

For me, the song brings back memories of going to dinner with my parents in East Aurora back in the 1980s when it was first released. My father would hand us a handful of quarters for the jukebox, and for whatever reason, we played “Total Eclipse of the Heart” over and over again. It’s one of those songs that instantly takes me back to that time.

Bonnie Tyler’s unmistakable voice and unforgettable music left a lasting mark on generations of fans around the world. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and the millions of fans who loved her music.

The last full-solar eclipse that we had was amazing! The weather was not perfect. However, even on a cloudy day, you could see the daylight fading away and the nighttime take over. The birds stopped chirping, the street lights came on and the crickets started to make their evening noises! It was a moment that was both eerie and exciting and one we won't forget! As it happened I couldn't help but have the song "Total Eclipse of the Heart" going through my mind!
