Longtime Cheektowaga Restaurant Abruptly Closes Permanently
Cheektowaga, New York is really making headlines this week between their insane tax increase proposal to restaurants closing.
A long time chain restaurant that has been in Cheektowaga for a long time is abruptly closing. Their was a sign on the door of Smokey Bones Bar & Grill announcing its closure that their last day was January 12th.
Smokey Bones has closed a ton of locations all over the country right after the new year, including the Cheektowaga location that was on Walden Ave right across the street from the Galleria Mall.
The sign on the door at the Cheektowaga Smokey Bones location reads:
We regret to announce that this location has permanently closed as of Monday, January 12th. We thank our loyal Guests for many wonderful years".
It is getting harder and harder with the rising food costs and different habits of customers since the pandemic.
2025 was specifically hard for a lot of major chains that have either shut down all of their stores for good, gone online only, or scaled back the amount of stores they have by nearly all. They include:
- TGI Fridays
- Big Lots
- Joann Fabrics
- Walgreens
- Red Robin
- Rite Aid
In addition, other chains have really taken a hit include Kohl's, Macy's, Dennys and Wendy's. What other stores have shut down this year?
