Hidden Speakeasy Behind Bookshelf in Downtown Buffalo
This is the coolest secret speakeasy in Buffalo, New York and it's located somewhere where you probably been a ton of times before and in plain sight.
If you ever go up to this one specifically in downtown Buffalo you'll probably see someone Buffalo famous or an athlete.
From East Aurora, New York to Tonawanda, New York there are a few speakeasies across Western New York. But let's talk about what really makes something a speakeasy because it's not necessarily a speakeasy if everybody knows about it. Before social media you probably even never knew it was there unless you were a local. The one in East Aurora by the Elm Street bakery is a hotspot and looks like one of the most authentic species but now social media everybody really knows about it and anybody can go inside of it.
Now this one in downtown Buffalo across the street from the Buffalo sabers arena might be the worst kept secret in Western New York but you can't just go inside of it. In fact you need to go into a special area and have a key to open up the bookshelf in order to go behind and go upstairs.
Terry and Kim Pegula put the speakeasy in when they bought the building
The speakeasy is located inside of the Draft Room across from Key Bank Center. You have to go all the way into the back room which was a former bakery now turned into a cigar lounge. The problem is you cannot just walk upstairs--you need someone with a key that can turn the book shelf.
