"Best fans in the world"

The Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres both played games at the same time and both teams lost.

Last Friday's NFL trade that sent nose tackle Marcell Dareus from the Buffalo Bills to the Jacksonville Jaguars happened so quickly, Dareus was out of Buffalo so quickly he hardly had time to say goodbye.  He put his thoughts together about his time in Buffalo in a letter to the Buffalo News and it's nothing but first class.

For a first round draft pick and number three overall in the 2011 college draft he turned out to be a huge disappointment for the Buffalo Bills.  Nose tackle Marcell Dareus is now a former Buffalo Bill after being traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday in exchange for a 6th round pick in the 2018 draft which could become a 5th round pick based on performance.

Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan said before the game that the Jacksonville Jaguars were the best 2-8 team he's ever seen.  On Sunday at New Era Field we all got to see what he meant, but the Bills survived with a 28-21 win.

I hope the Buffalo Bills enjoyed their vacation in London because that's certainly how they played their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.  Bills quarterback E J Manuel was expected to manage the game and don't lose it.  But an absolutely awful first half is in large part why the Bills fell the Jaguars 34-31.

EJ Manuel's second touchdown pass of the game, a one-yard pass to fullback Frank Summers with 9 1/2 minutes left to play, was good enough for the Buffalo Bills to squeak out a 27-20 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, giving the Bills their first win in a month.

It’s a long-shot, but still a shot at making the playoffs. And talking to the players after the game they believe it. On a windy, wet day in Orchard Park the Bills ran for 232 yards and held the Jacksonville Jaguars to just 50 in a 34 to 18 win.

Not too many people will say they love going to preseason games.  You might see the starters play for a few series then they're off the field for the rest of the game.  Preseason games are all about auditioning players for roster spots and once in a while you just might see a competitive game.  Saturday night at Ralph Wilson Stadium just might fit into that category.
