Yesterday was opening day of Spring Turkey season.  Down at our camp in Caneadea, NY in Allegany County, we had ten of us take to the fields in hopes of bagging a bird.  All ten of us came up empty-handed.  But that's OK, because that makes it all the more enjoyable when you do get a bird.  The most important aspect of turkey hunting is the quality time you spend with your friends and loved ones.  My son and I had a great time yesterday.  We saw a few young jakes, some deer and spent a great morning in the woods together.  It doesn't get much better than that.  Would we like to get a bird?  Absolutely! But there is plenty of time left as Spring Turkey season continues for the entire month of May.  Good Hunting to you and please be safe!
