The Bills Have Released Kicker Stephen Hauschka

A move that many pondered could happen at this year's Buffalo Bills training camp was the team moving on from kicker Stephen Hauschka, after drafting a kicker in the 2020 NFL Draft (Tyler Bass).

That became a reality on Thursday.

According to the team's official social media sites, the Bills have released kicker Stephen Hauschka.

The Bills also announced they have released punter Lachlan Edwards, a week after signing him.

The Bills drafted kicker Tyler Bass out of Georgia Southern in the draft this year and by all accounts, would be the kicker who replaced Hauschka, which happened on Thursday.

Hauschka played three seasons with Buffalo -- from 2017-2019. He spent the previous six seasons with the Seattle Seahwaks. He's 35 years old.

Hauschka made 78% of his field goals the past two seasons, after making 88% of his kicks in 2017. Before that, he was known as one of the best kickers in the league, when playing for the Seahawks.

We'll see what Tyler Bass can do. He's got a very strong leg, which of course will help tremendously here in Buffalo. We know how cold and windy it can get in November and December...and hopefully, January!
