Pete Guelli Confirms “Multiple Concerts” Coming To New Highmark Stadium

Could the New Highmark Stadium become a major concert destination?

When negotiations were just starting for the New Highmark Stadium, one of the things people weren't thrilled about was the idea that they would build this enormous, very expensive stadium for the Bills to play 8-10 games in a season and then have it sit empty for the rest of the year. People began asking what else it could be used for. How else could they get their money's worth from it?

One of the things people came up with was the opportunity to hold some massive concerts there with major artists. Now, according to the President of Operations for the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, Pete Guelli, they've already got those in the works.

Pete Guelli confirms there will be multiple concerts at New Highmark Stadium next year

In a conversation with Matt Bove and Sal Capaccio on the "It's Always Gameday In Buffalo" podcast, Guelli was asked what else they've got planned for the new stadium. Immediately he mentioned that there are a number of "high level concerts that pack that facility" coming next offseason.

Notice, he didn't say, we have a concert in mind. He didn't say they were hoping to get some people to come. He said they were already set up for next year.

What else are they working on for the new stadium?

Guelli said, "We want it to be as busy as many days a year as we possibly can have it be." So it's not just football (although he did say it's football first) and concerts. He mentioned that they're already talking to the NHL (presumably about the Winter Classic coming back to Buffalo) and he's also still trying to get the NFL Draft to come to Buffalo. That would bring in hundreds of thousands of people to Buffalo.

But the thing that stood out is he said, the first offseason to expect "a lot of concerts," then they will move into other events as the years go on.
