The Buffalo Bills are entering week 4 of the 2021 regular season with their old self back...or, at least the 2020 version of the Bills is back.

The Bills dominated The Washington Football Team, 43-21 at Highmark Stadium on Sunday. The score doesn't even do the game justice, as the Bills did what they wanted through the air most of the game, and other than a 73-yard screen pass for a touchdown, the defense played tremendous as well.

The Bills defense is off to a better start in 2021 than 2020 and a major reason is because of fifth-year linebacker, Matt Milano.

Milano has steadily turned himself into a star linebacker for the Bills and was awarded a new, four-year, $44 million contract in the offseason.

Milano is off to a fantastic start to 2021. According to the Buffalo Bills PR, Milano is tied with Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller for the most tackles for loss through the first three games of the season with six. He also leads the Bills in that statistic since 2017.

Milano's stats don't stop there. He was Pro Football Focus' top-rated linebacker through the first two weeks of the season and after week three is ranked number two in the NFL, behind only Cleveland Browns' linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.

Milano, however, has played twice as many snaps as Owusu-Koramoah, which makes his first three games even more impressive. The Bills ask a lot of Milano and he usually delivers.

Not only has he been great against the run, but his best attribute is covering tight ends and even slot receivers. He's so versatile that defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier trusts him in any situation and any offensive formation. That's rare for an NFL linebacker today.

Milano is one of the best players in the NFL, not just linebackers and not even just defensive players. He's worth every single penny the Bills are paying him. It's a bargain, even.
