The Next Phase Of The Thruway Improvement Project Starts This Week
The good news is that spring is here. However, with that also comes construction season. Be prepared for some holdups on the thruway starting this week.
Aside from project to improve the Skyway and the 290, the second phase of what Governor Andrew Cuomo calls the Thruway Improvement Project will start this week on the 90.
According to WIVB, you'll see a change in the traffic pattern between Exit 54 (West Seneca/East Aurora) and the Lackawanna toll barriers.
The traffic will be shifted to the westbound side of I-90 while work takes place on the eastbound side of it.
It's part of a huge $66.4 million project to improve or repair the infrastructure of the 90. The first phase of which took place last year and was completed in the fall.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said. "Four bridges were rehabilitated, one was replaced, and the road was reconstructed to give motorists a better, safer drive."
