This winter has been pretty mild compared to others. It was a green Christmas for most of New York State and 2023 will go down as the warmest on record around the world.

For the most part, New Year's Eve and the first day of January are cold and in some years, bitterly cold. However, this coming ball drop should be more tolerable.

What was the warmest New Year's Eve in New York City? If you like springtime weather, you would have loved to be there back in the 60's and 70's.

The warmest ball drops occurred in 1965–66 and 1972–73 when the temperature was 58 °F (14 °C).

The ten day forecast from The Weather Channel is calling for the temperatures to be in the 35-45 degree range with a few clouds from New Year's Eve in to the first day of 2024 on Monday.
