The world is still reeling over the tight of the Kentucky Derby this past weekend and now New York State is about to be a major destination for horse racing fans.

Not only was the finish one of the closest, but the wagering on the race was also in record territory. The 2024 Kentucky Derby will be one for the history books for sure.

But here in New York State, there are reports that the runner up of the Derby will make his next appearance in Saratoga.

According to reports, the likely next race for Kentucky Derby runner-up Sierra Leone will be The Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Race Course.The Belmont Stakes is Saturday, June 8th.

It was a photo finish at the Derby.

The statement regarding the future of Sierra Leone reads that: "Chad Brown on Sierra Leone this AM: “He’s not going to the Preakness. I’m going to take him to Saratoga tomorrow and he’s going to train for the Belmont.”
