The fall hunting seasons are approaching here in New York State! As we get to the halfway point of September, the bugs are still making it tough on wildlife.

The fall will be here, officially, on the 22nd. However, it feels very much like summer as the temperatures are hovering in the mid 80's every afternoon. We love the weather in September. But for those who like to hike or hunt in the woods, you will need bug protection.

The early hunting season for deer and bear are underway in portions of the Empire State as we start this weekend. Check out some of the photos we captured of deer getting smothered by bugs in the woods this summer.

The deer activity has been picking up over the last few weeks. Whitetail bucks have shed their antler velvet and the fawns are growing up fast! You can feel the excitement of deer hunting closing in.

My trail camera snapped these photos of this whitetail deer covered in bugs.

As far as the early seasons go, there are specific locations in the state that hunters can kill an antlerless deer or even a bear in designated locations with PROPER permits.

Good luck this weekend and this season and pray for cooler weather.
