Sean McDermott Says Three Bills Starters Won’t Play Sunday
The Buffalo Bills are two days away from their week 3 game in Miami against the Dolphins. It will match two 2-0 teams in the AFC East and a chance for the Bills to claim first place in the division.
The Bills are coming off two blowout wins against the Los Angeles Rams and the Tennessee Titans, but Buffalo suffered some blows in the win against the Titans on Monday Night Football.
12 players were listed on the Bills injury report on Thursday, most of them starting players who play a pivotal role on the Bills, especially their outstanding defense.
It remains to be seen if players like Jordan Poyer, Dawson Knox, Ed Oliver and Tim Settle will play on Sunday, but head coach Sean McDermott has already rules out three key players for the week 3 matchup.
McDermott has officially ruled out cornerback Dane Jackson, defensive tackle Jordan Phillips and safety Micah Hyde.
He made the announcement on WGR radio in Buffalo.
All three players did not practice at all this week, which is always a good indicator a player won't be playing on game day.
Hopefully the hamstring injury to Phillips isn't severe, because he's been playing very well. The Bills would love to get back Settle and Oliver on Sunday with this news/
The Bills will now be starting two rookie cornerbacks, Christian Benford and Kaiir Elam against the likes of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, which is a reason to worry for Bills fans.
Poyer could still play and Hyde's injury means Jaquan Johnson will start his second career game, but he's been very impressive in relief when called upon and had an outstanding preseason.
Kickoff at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday is at 1 pm.
