Town of Hamburg Names First-Ever Female Fire Chief

The Town of Hamburg named Brittany Jewett as the new fire chief, making her the first woman in the Lake View department's history to have the leadership role.

WIVB reports, "Brittany started at the department as a probationary firefighter in 2009. And at just 29 years old, she’s worked her way up to the top: overseeing two fire halls, 40 active firefighters and up to 600 calls a year. She’ll be officially installed as the chief on Saturday night."

Jewett comes from a long line of firefighters -- her great-grandfather was Lake View's first ever fire chief, and both her grandfather and father held the role as well.
