Inside Look at Train Yard Where “Big Boy” is Located in Buffalo
Here's an inside look of where the world's largest steam locomotive is parked right now in Western New York.
Today the "Big Boy" is parked in the train yard that is located in the Sloan and Cheektowaga area right under the Harlem bridge kind of by the old Hot Dog Heaven. Now you can see from a distance the train and it is completely gated off in the yard because it is getting ready for visitors today before it takes off Thursday morning.
You can go in the neighborhood and go look through the fence but if you want to get an up close and personal look you cannot just drive up or walk up to go in the yard. If you want to get a very close to the world's largest steam locomotive you are going to have to take a shuttle. The shuttle is free and you don't need tickets but it will pick you up at the Galleria Mall which is about a 4-minute drive away from where the train yard is located.
From there the shuttle will bring you right into the train yard and drop you off where it is very well organized, highly secured and has bathrooms for any patrons that are coming as well. You can take a look at the video below.
It is all the hype here in Western New York right now as people are going to see the train and if they are not going to see the train today they are trying to get a glimpse as it passes through their town. On Thursday the train will be going through Buffalo, Depew, Lancaster, Alden and Darien before it gets to Letchworth on Thursday afternoon.
