Is This Western New York Road Causing Flat Tires?
The Erie County Fair is underway for the next 12 days in Hamburg, New York and one of the busiest and most traveled routes to get to the fair may be causing flat tires on vehicles according to a new report.
Channel 7 in Buffalo has a report that multiple people have reported tire damage after driving in an area near the Armor Duells exit of the 219 expressway in Orchard Park. This is one of the most used exits as people head for the Erie County Fair.
Channel 7 reported that:
In our search to get answers 7 News stopped by Orchard Park Police, but the chief was unavailable.
We also emailed Erie County, who told us this was a state construction zone, but there was no sign of construction while we were there.
This is also a concern for those who may be using the 219 to get to the Buffalo Bills preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts this weekend.
It is also around the corner from an intersection that is getting more attention these days.
The intersection of McKinley at Clark Street is one of the most dangerous in Western New York. Depending on the time of day and day of the week, it feels like you are in a game of chicken with oncoming traffic as there is no turn arrow or round about to help the flow of traffic.
A meeting is taking place this weekend to discuss the future of the intersection and will come at a time when people are headed to either the Erie County Fair or the Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts preseason game at Highmark Stadium!
It was 6 years ago that I recorded a video showing how tricky it can be to navigate the intersection.
The Erie County Fair will be lighting up the sky over Hamburg each night around 9:30.
From concerts to corn festivals and rodeos, there is something for every family to enjoy this weekend and it is a great preview to what some call the Best 12 Days of Summer!
The Erie County Fair is about to begin in Hamburg, New York as the opening day is scheduled for Wednesday, August 9th!
Among the thousands of things to see and do at the Erie County Fair this year is the return of the daily (nightly) fireworks show!!
2 On Your Side, WGRZ is proud to present nightly fireworks over the skies of the Erie County Fair. Each night of the Fair at 9:30, spectators will be dazzled by a pyrotechnic extravaganza produced by Skylighters of Western New York
When you go to the Erie County Fair this summer, there has been a great deal of work done on the fairgrounds in the "off season". Many of the buildings are either new or have been upgraded and some of the dusty, bumpy driveways have been paved over and are so smooth!
