Technology is a good thing and so many amazing innovations have made our lives so much better.

But with technology, things we used to do have gone by the waist side. Before the internet getting information took much more work.

Growing up here in Buffalo, there are certain things we used to do to get information or entertainment that we no longer have to do because of the internet.

Things like getting weather updates. Currently, all you have to do is pick up your phone and ask Siri or Alexa to give you the latest weather. You also can just click on an app and you have the weather forecast for the day broken down hour by hour. Back in the day, before the internet, you used to have to call the Channel 4 weather line. You would call 844-4444 and you could hear a prerecorded weather forecast and the latest temperature.

For entertainment, now you can play video games on your TV, computer, and phone and the graphics and entertainment value is amazing. When I was young living in West Seneca, my parents use to have to drop us off at an arcade to play video games. I spent countless hours and dollars on tokens at JNC on Transit road when I was young.

So much has changed with the internet and smartphone that our daily lives and how we entertain ourselves are completely different than when we were younger.

Check out 7 things that Western New Yorkers no longer do because of the internet and smartphones.
