Dale Mussen

I've been doing this radio thing for over 35 years now. I've been a part of the Breakfast Club morning show since 1986. Since I was a kid, I've loved to read. I read the newspaper each day nearly cover to cover – usually not the classifieds though. I get a lot of ideas for my Daily Data segment just by reading the paper. I’m a lifelong Bills and Sabres fan, and I've been a regular in the press box of both teams since 1979 -- but I'm still waiting for one of them to win a championship! Four cracks at it for the Bills and two for the Sabres, and they came up short. I was born and raised in the Buffalo area. I went to school at Niagara University, and since Clay went to Canisius, we get to raz each other twice each year when the Eagles and Griffs meet to play basketball. I have a large collection of records. I'm one of the few that still has the old vinyl, including a lot of old 45s in their original sleeves. Some kids probably have no idea what I'm talking about at this point. My favorite things to do in my spare time are bike riding and fixing things around the house, and each fall, I officiate high school football games.

No New Pope Yet

Sworn to complete secrecy, the 115 Cardinals in Rome will vote again on Wednesday (March 13) for a new Pope to replace Benedict. Black smoke billowed from the Sistine Chapel after the first round of voting, meaning no new Pope had been elected. Once one candidate receives a two-thirds majority, he becomes Pope, and the first sign the Cardinals were successful is when white smoke comes from the Chapel’s chimney.

Add NYC Soda Ban Idea To List of Dumb Laws

It’s just so random and that’s probably what was wrong with it. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been campaigning long and hard for his controversial soda law that would ban people from buying sugary soft drinks in cups larger than 16 ounces. If you wanted more than that you could buy two. Huh?

Sabres Not Ready To Play In Loss To Flyers

It was a night where nothing went the way of the Buffalo Sabres.  The Philadelphia Flyers came out determined to end a 3-game losing streak and like so many other teams have this season they did it at the expense of the Sabres 3-2.

New York City’s Worst Blizzard

New York City has seen some bad weather recently, but nothing close to this.  New York ground to a near halt in the face of huge snow drifts and strong winds. It was back when one in every four Americans lived in the area between Washington D.C. and Maine.

The day before, temperatures were in the 50’s, clear and sunny, but then a cold front moved in and temperatures plunged.

Honey + Cinnamon Cures a Cold?

I’ve been struggling thru a cold this week and a friend e-mailed me an article on the virtues of honey and its amazing healing power. And it was suggested a combination of honey and cinnamon does wonders to get rid of a cold. The recommendation is take one tablespoon of lukewarm honey with ¼ tablespoon of cinnamon powder for three days. It’ll cure chronic cough, get rid of the dold and clear the sinuses.

Sounds ok, but there’s more.

Sabres Dominate Game But Lose

They've had so many poor games this season and losses they deserved, but Thursday night in New Jersey was a tough one to swallow for the Sabres.  For 53 minutes they put in a solid game, especially on defense while building a 2-0 lead.  Then it all fell apart when Christian Ehrhoff took a penalty.  The Devils scored on the power play, then scored again with a minute left forcing overtime, then a shootout and that's where the Devils won it for a 3-2 victory.
