I've been doing this radio thing for over 35 years now. I've been a part of the morning show since 1986. Since I was a kid, I've loved to read. I read the newspaper each day nearly cover to cover – usually not the classifieds though. I get a lot of ideas for my Daily Data segment just by reading the paper. I’m a lifelong Bills and Sabres fan, and I've been a regular in the press box of both teams since 1979 -- but I'm still waiting for one of them to win a championship! Four cracks at it for the Bills and two for the Sabres, and they came up short. I was born and raised in the Buffalo area. I went to school at Niagara University, and since Clay went to Canisius, we get to raz each other twice each year when the Eagles and Griffs meet to play basketball. I have a large collection of records. I'm one of the few that still has the old vinyl, including a lot of old 45s in their original sleeves. Some kids probably have no idea what I'm talking about at this point. My favorite things to do in my spare time are bike riding and fixing things around the house, and each fall, I officiate high school football games.

Buffalo Sabres Beat Detroit Red Wings On Two Late Goals

After a rough western road trip the Buffalo Sabres have put together back to back impressive victories over two of the better teams in the NHL.  After Saturday night's win over the Los Angeles Kings on home ice the Sabres played a patient game against the Detroit Red Wings until they scored a pair of goals just over a minute apart last in the third period to beat the Wings 2-1.

Buffalo Bills Loss Puts Another Nail In The Coffin

Rex Ryan recently said the team is running out mulligans if it hopes to make the playoffs.  It's looking more and more like Ryan's first year as Bills head coach is turning into a mulligan.  Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles moves the Bills another step closer to elimination from playoff consideration for the 16th straight year.

Any Idea Why the I-290 Is Called The Youngmann Highway?

Tens of thousands of motorists use the route everyday.  It connects the mainline Thruway I-90 with the Niagara section of the Thruway I-190 thru the towns of Amherst and Tonawanda.  It's officially I-290, but most locals call it the Youngmann.

Buffalo Sabres Lose Despite Hat Trick By Ristolainen

Buffalo Sabres Fall Flat In Vancouver

The Buffalo Sabres didn't have much going for them Monday night in Vancouver.  For the second night in a row the Sabres opened the scoring when captain Brian Gionta whacked a high shot past former Sabre goaltender Ryan Miller.  But it was all Vancouver after that.  The Canucks scored four straight goals on their way to a 5-2 victory to hand Buffalo its second straight loss while ending their own five-game losing streak.

Santa Surprises Little Deaf Girl With His Sign Language Skills

I often think about what it might have been like to grow up as a deaf child.  My dad tells me stories about being together with his family before the days of TV.  He says his family would gather around the radio to listen to evening programs and while they enjoyed whatever was being broadcast he had only the green light of the radio dial to watch.

Buffalo Bills Win Key Game Against The Houston Texans

It was a game they absolutely needed to keep their slim playoff hopes alive and the Buffalo Bills came thru with a 30-21 victory over the Houston Texans. The Texans came into the game as one of the hottest teams in the league and a lot of had to do with the play of defensive end Jamie Watt.  The key for the Bills offense was to stop Watt and for the most part they did by coming up with schemes to stop him.

Bet You Didn’t Know These Things About Route 20

Think of all the times you've headed down Broadway through Lancaster and Alden to Darien Lake for a concert.  Or when you've used Southwestern Boulevard to get to the Ralph Wilson Stadium for a Buffalo Bills game. What do those two roads have in common?

They're both designated U-S Route 20.

Buffalo Sabres Fall in a Shoot-out in Detroit

Good effort, but the Buffalo Sabres came up short again in Detroit, a place where they haven't won in nine years.  They came close.  The Sabres battled back from down 3-1 to score three straight goals to take a 4-3 lead in the third period only to give up a power play goal forcing overtime, then a shoot-out.

Coaching Mistakes Cost The Buffalo Bills At Kansas City

Complain all you want about officiating in the NFL.  The Buffalo Bills were on the short end of some questionable calls against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, but the Bills have only themselves to blame.  More specifically the blame can be placed squarely on the coaching staff.  The NFL has a system to challenge questionable officiating calls and the Bills failed miserably.  It cost them in a 30-22 loss to the Chiefs.
