Every week, we like to say thanks to the service men and women who are bravely fighting for our country to keep us safe. This week's nomination came from one soldier's daughter who very obviously misses her dad but understands the importance of his job. This week's Hometown Hero is Senior Airman Francesco Torcasio III.

The nomination read:

My dad started in the military in 2012. He is an air transportation specialist and a parachute rigger. It makes me sad while he's away, but I know he is protecting us and will be coming back home. He loves spending time with me out riding four-wheelers in the mud and having bonfires. He graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 2005 and went to college at Niagara University for paralegal. I want to be an officer in the Air Force after high school, and I'm so excited to see my dad when he gets home.

He's currently stationed in Afghanistan, and we can't wait until he comes home either. Thank you again to Francesco Torcasio III. We are proud to call you the Hometown Hero this week.

If you would like to nominate someone who is currently serving our country or has served in the past, click the button below. We will choose a new Hometown Hero each Friday. If their name is chosen, we will not only feature them on WYRK.com, but we’ll be sure to thank them for their service on the air and dedicate the first song on Noon Tunes to them.

Once again, thank you to Senior Airman Francesco Torcasio III, our Hometown Hero of the week!
