This week's Hometown Hero is originally from Lackawana.  It's 19-year-old Airforce Airman First Class Michael Shul!

Michael decided to enlist after he graduated from high school, although he was only 17 and needed his mother’s signature. Although her fear made her hesitant, she decided to sign for him anyway. She says that he doesn't consider himself a hero because he feels he really hasn't done anything yet.

Michael enlisted in November 2012 and did his basic training at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas, where he graduated in August 2013. He then continued his training there. He is now in an extended training program at the Niagara Falls Airforce Base.

Michael lost his father at age 5, and his mom feels his passion to succeed and fight for his country makes his father a proud angel shining down on him from heaven.

We are sure you are making him proud, Michael! That’s why we would like to name him this week’s Hometown Hero!

Remember, if you would like to nominate someone who is currently serving our country or has served in the past, simply click the button below. We will honor a new Hometown Hero each week, and if their name is picked, not only do we mention them on the air but we also dedicate the first song on Noon Tunes to them.

Thank you once again to Airman First Class Michael Shul, this week’s Hometown Hero!
