This week’s Hometown Hero is a veteran who served two decades in the United States Navy! He’s originally from Buffalo. It’s 47-year-old Robert Christopher Sikorski!

Sikorski proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Navy. In his multi-decade career as a culinary specialist, Sikorski was deployed seven different times to the Middle East for many months at a time. He is a decorated veteran who participated in Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He was involved in many different special ops while he was deployed in the Middle East. While he spent his entire Naval career in San Diego, he is originally from Buffalo and has since returned to WNY after his retirement in March 2008. Robert's entire family is very proud of him, his service to our country and dedication.

All of us at WYRK are awfully proud of him too, and honored to call him our Hometown Hero of the week! Thank you for your service and dedication to our country!

If you would like to nominate someone who is currently serving our country or has served in the past, click the button below. We will choose a new Hometown Hero each Friday. If their name is chosen, we will not only feature them right here on WYRK.com, but we'll be sure to thank them for their service on the air and dedicate the first song on Noon Tunes to them.
