The Dallas Stars won the Stanley Cup in 1999 at the expense of the Buffalo Sabres when Bret Hull scored the game and cup-winning goal while his skate was in the goal crease. NHL rules at the time made it illegal to score a goal any goal with a player in the crease - even a skate blade.
