Four months after being fired as coach of the Buffalo Sabres, Lindy Ruff has agreed to take over behind the bench of the Dallas Stars.

And what irony that is.  It was the Stars that beat the Sabres in the 1999 Stanley Cup Finals on a disputed goal.  Lindy Ruff stood in front of thousands of fans in Niagara Square and proclaimed it a "No Goal".

So after 14 seasons and 23 games of his 15th season as Sabres coach, Lindy will be headed south to take over the reigns of a team that has failed to make the playoffs for five straight seasons.  But they're still considered a champion because they've won the Stanley Cup and that's something the Sabres haven't done and appear to be a long way away from winning.

Lindy has said previously Western New York will always remain home to him and one thing he will always hope for is that the Sabres win a Stanley Cup to reward the fans. Best wishes to Lindy Ruff in Dallas.
