It still hurts after more than 12 years.  The Dallas Stars won the Stanley Cup in 1999 at the expense of the Buffalo Sabres when Bret Hull scored the game and cup-winning goal while his skate was in the goal crease.  NHL rules at the time made it illegal to score a goal any goal with a player in the crease - even a skate blade.  It wasn't until well after the game did a video replay show Hull's skate was in the crease.

When Hull scored the goal in the third overtime of Game 6, the doors to the rink opened and a swarm of reporters and cameramen jumped on to the ice.  The NHL seemed to be in such a hurry to award the cup they forgot to enforce the rules.  When Lindy Ruff addressed Sabres fans in Niagara Square he proclaimed it "No Goal."

Now years later Hull appears to be gloating.  Instead of handling his Stanley Cup championship with class he seems to be flaunting it and the way it was won.

Hull opened a Twitter account over the weekend and one of his first tweets was directed at Sabres fans:  "New pic for all my friends in buffalo xoxo."
