This week's Hometown Hero is 21-year-old Jim Militello from Lakeview. Jim is a 2010 graduate of Frontier High School. He studied Criminal Justice at Daytona State College for two years after high school but decided he wanted to do something more with his life, so he joined the Marines.

Jim graduated from Marine Corps recruit depot, Parris Island, S.C. on April 26, 2013. Jim excelled in his training while at Parris Island and earned the rank of Private First Class prior to graduation. He also scored very high in rifle training during bootcamp and earned the coveted Expert Badge for his marksmenship. He is currently at Camp Geiger, N.C. for additional combat training.

On this Flag Day, we thank you, Jim, for your service!

If you would like to nominate someone who is currently serving our country or has served in the past, click the button below. We will choose a new Hometown Hero each Friday. If their name is chosen, we will not only feature them right here on WYRK.com, but we'll be sure to thank them for their service on the air and dedicate the first song on Noon Tunes to them.
