It's so sad when older dogs or cats are at a shelter. It's usually harder for older pets to get adopted over younger ones.

According to the Niagara County SPCA, a 10-year-old dog named Silvia was recently surrendered and needs a forever home.

According to the description, she's an "absolute sweetheart" and is confused at why she's at a shelter.

Being through the process of adopting a dog from the SPCA, I can say the older dogs getting passed over really break my heart. I know why the young dogs are the ones people go for, but every single dog deserves a chance.

Just because they're at a shelter and older, does not mean they're bad dogs. There are some absolute gems at both the Niagara County and Erie County SPCA.

You can keep track of the dogs that arrive at the Niagara County SPCA on their Facebook page.
