The rate will be automatically recalculated based on the customer’s previously reported gross earnings. This is the first time the maximum benefit rate has changed since 2019, which means more money in the pockets of New Yorkers to afford essentials like rent, groceries, and gas.

Gas can additionally be paid for in New York State via HEAP while you get your New York State unemployment. Though, there are income guidelines that must be met and unemployment is considered a New York State income.
