New York State Now Has This New Tornado Alley
The second tornado to touch down in New York State this year has everyone talking. What makes this story especially remarkable is that the tornado that touched down on April 15 was only a mile or two away from another tornado that touched down just days earlier.
Second Tornado Confirmed In Western New York
Spring storms have arrived across New York, and some of them have packed a serious punch. While some people online are joking that residents of Cattaraugus County should buy a lottery ticket because of the unusual weather, those who live there are simply relieved that no major disaster occurred when the tornado moved through.
According to reports, another tornado has now been confirmed in Machias.
Tornado Touched Down Near Same Area As Earlier Storm
It has been an incredible and stressful couple of weeks for people living in Cattaraugus County. Just days ago, a powerful storm swept through communities including Gowanda.
The hailstorm was so intense that it shattered windows and damaged vehicles throughout the area.

Now, residents are once again dealing with severe weather after a second tornado touched down near the same location as the first one.
More Severe Weather Could Still Be Ahead
What happens next is difficult to predict as Western New York continues to bounce back and forth between warmer and colder temperatures over the next several days. Hopefully, it will not be long before the steady spring weather arrives and the only storms left are the occasional summertime thunderstorms.
However, tornadoes have become more common across Western New York in recent years. A powerful tornado tore through Eden a few years ago, and signs of the destruction can still be seen today. Drivers passing through the area can still spot twisted trees deep in the woods. Homes and barns that were damaged have since been rebuilt, but the memories of that day remain very real for many people.
Stay Alert During Severe Weather In New York
As these spring storms continue, it is important to pay close attention to weather alerts. Severe weather in the spring can develop quickly, and when a tornado warning is issued, take it seriously.
If a tornado warning is posted for your area, move immediately to the safest room in your home or business and stay there until the storm has passed.
