A new car seat law goes into effect on November 1, which makes it illegal to put a child in a forward-facing position too early.

The new law requires children under two years old to be secured in a rear-facing car seat in New York State.

WIVB reports, "Officials said it will increase the safety of child passengers in cars by protecting their heads, necks, and spines from injuries."
