There is a lot of guidance, rules and limitations, and they will evolve over time, but as of Wednesday, February 24, here is what you need to know, what you need to do and what you need to expect from New York State.
1.) Five days in advance of the event, you need to send the New York State Health Department with details including, where, how many people will be in attendance, the amount of workers and more. (effective February 24):
2.) Everyone coming to the event must "sign in" when they get to the wedding with all of their info which will be used for contact tracing
"Event organizers may establish the sign-in method how they please, including digital application or paper."
3.) You must get tested before or rapid resting immediately getting to the event, if someone tests positive they are no longer able to attend.
4.) You must have your face covering on at all times except when eating or drinking.
5.) You cannot congregate in front of the DJ or band or dancefloor.
6.) Can you have a first dance? Yes. No face mask needed as long as you live in the same house.
In addition, here is another guideline set by New York for dancing:
Attendees may dance with only members of their same immediate party/household/family who are seated at their table in designated and clearly marked areas or zones that are
assigned to them and spaced, at least, six feet apart from any other dancing areas or zones, and any tables. Ideally, each dancing areas or zones should not be less than 36 square feet. Attendees must wear face coverings while in their assigned dancing area or zone and cannot enter, use, or otherwise visit other dancing areas or zones.
