AMC Theaters Won’t Require Customers To Wear Masks
4:00PM UPDATE: AMC reverses course, says guests MUST wear masks.
This seems like a fairly big surprise but according to WIVB, AMC Theaters has announced they will not require guests to wear masks when their theaters reopen.
The plan is to reopen AMC theaters next month.
Here's the reasoning from AMC Theaters CEO and President, Adam Aron.
“We did not want to be drawn into a political controversy,” Aron said. “We thought it might be counterproductive if we forced mask wearing on those people who believe strongly that it is not necessary. We think that the vast majority of AMC guests will be wearing masks. When I go to an AMC feature, I will certainly be wearing a mask and leading by example.”
Employees, however, will still have to wear masks when working.
According to WIVB, capacity limits to start at AMC theaters will be 30 percent, along with added cleanings and improved ventilation systems.
