How would you describe luck?  Winning the lottery would be one.  Sometimes avoiding unlucky things is another way.  Men’s Health put together a study of America’s Luckiest Cities and among the things they looked at were the number of Powerball, Mega Millions and Publishers Clearing House winners, most golf holes in one – really a combination of luck and skill don’t you think?  They also looked at fewest number of people
struck by lightning, deaths from falling objects and least amount of money lost on lottery tickets and horse race betting.

They collected information on those categories from 100 cities across America and San Diego, California
came out on top – the luckiest city in America.  The have more Powerball, Mega Millions and Publishers Clearing House winners – most golfers with a hole in one to their credit and the fewest number of people having unlucky things happen to them than any other city in America.

Completing the Top 10 are:

Baltimore,

Phoenix,

Wilmington,  Delaware,

Richmond, Virginia,

San Francisco,

Las Vegas,

Philadelphia,

Louisville,  Kentucky

and Reno,  Nevada.

Where did Buffalo rank on the list?  Buffalo came in 81st.  Apparently not too many lucky people in Buffalo.
Holes in one – our golf season is only half as long as San Diego’s and we have a lot of old buildings in Buffalo so maybe that’s why people get hit by falling objects more often here.

The unluckiest city in America?  Coming in at #100 – Charleston, West Virigina.
