Amherst Issues Halloween Warning
If you are planning the perfect Halloween costume to go door to door this Halloween, you may want to stay at home in Amherst instead.
According to a letter from town officials, the popular practice of gathering candy is too dangerous due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, anyone who does want to hand out treats can do so on October 31st from six p-m until eight p-m.
If you plan to trick-or-treat keep your hands clean and follow the typical guidelines we have become used to.
We plan to go to a close family member's house and just hang out. It is easier for us with very little kids who are good with just a bowl of candy and a some apple cider.
I think Halloween is a great time for us dads. We can have a few beers and chat while the kids count the candy they scored. It will certainly be a bit different this year. But I believe that as long as we keep some of the traditions the same, the kids will still have something to look forward to. if you are not comfortable with kids coming to your door, turn your light off. If you don't want your kids to go out, keep them home.
The good news is that Halloween is on a Saturday this year! The candy hangover won't affect a school day the next day!
