The winter is not giving up and it might just be the start of the worst part of it here in New York State.

As we move toward Valentines Day and start dreaming of spring, the cold and snow are still gripping much of the Northeast and New York State is seeing it's share of both as well.

But there is one group of people who really need to pay attention to the weather as we enter the weekend.

This week, we have seen a variety of weather here in the Empire State. Thursday started with rain and 24 degrees! It was a messy commute followed by temps above freezing. Anything that melted-froze and then it started to snow.

If you run or walk on a regular basis, you need to be very careful today. The light and powdery snow is laying on the ice and it is like an ice rink on driveways, parking lots and sidewalks.

We have a black lab who I walk every morning and I felt so bad for her. The ice was disguised by the snow and she could barely get any traction at all. These are perfect conditions for slip and fall accidents. Take your time and help those who may have mobility issues.

The snow is going to keep coming and the ice is going to stick around on untreated areas.

Runners, even if you have the tracks for your shoes make sure you try to stay on dry pavement or thicker snow areas.
