One of the best parts of summer are the fresh fruits and veggies that we have available all over Western New York. Now is the time to grab up some fresh strawberries from your favorite farm.

Sure, you can get your strawberries from the grocery store, and some of them even sell berries from local places. But there's just something special about taking a day and going to pick your own.

The season for strawberries is quick

In Western New York, you need to pick when the picking is good. It normally starts in mid-June and will go into the first week or two of July, but then it's gone. It can change depending on the weather, but generally, it only lasts for around 3-4 weeks. So you don't want to miss out when the time is here.

There are a lot of ways to support your favorite farms

The way to do your part to ensure that you'll always have fresh, delicious strawberries available is to always buy fresh from your favorite farm. That could mean you're going to their "U-Pick" farm, buying from their farm stand on a corner, or making sure the berries you're buying in the store are local.
