Local Eden Farmer Makes Pop With Real Juice From WNY

A local farmer, has been developing the perfect recipe for a delicious soda pop that is made with real fruit from local farms. And you've got an opportunity to get some of your own.

The first time I tried Matt's soda was a couple of years ago. I was at a party with a bunch of friends, and he was just getting started making it. He didn't have any packaging for it or anything. It was just in a container that said "Pop's pop" written in magic marker on the side.

It wasn't perfect then, but I could tell that he was onto something. More than that, he was passionate about making a great product. He's come a long way since that day.

Last weekend I had the chance to try a bottle of his latest batch. It was the "Concord Grape" flavor, and let me tell you, it actually tasted like real grapes, not the "grape" flavor you get when you get candy. It was the kind of drink that you drink out of the bottle, then pull back from your lips to look at the bottle to reassure your brain about what you just gave it. It was delicious.

You may have seen the article in Buffalo Hive about Matt and the story about how he started making pop here in Western New York. About how he went to high school in Eden, then on to college, then to the Army, where he served in Afghanistan. Matt is also the creator of the corn ice cream that they sell at the Eden Corn Festival every year.

He uses juice from local growers

Being a farmer himself, Agle understands the work that goes into creating a product, and he is trying to share a little of the love with some other farmers in the area. He's reached out to farms like Bittner-Singer Orchards in Appleton, NY and Erdle Vineyards in Chautauqua County, NY to source the juice. Then the pop is made at Agle's Farm in Eden, NY.

He's got three flavors available now. There's Concord Grape, Niagara Grape, and Plum.
