According to reports, Frederick Douglass-Greater Rochester International Airport is going to be receiving some funding from the federal government. Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand said yesterday over two-million dollars will be used for projects such as pavement repairs and improving runway lighting.

The holiday season is approaching and traveling to grandma's house or to visit friends may be put on hold for the year. Most people will stay close to home because of the fears over COVID-19 and travel restrictions. However, if you do have to fly, there are some great deals right now as most of the major airlines are trying to boost business.

I can't imagine trying to get on a plane with our current family situation. We have three boys under 4 years old and even without any virus issues, it would be a challenge getting them to cooperate. But the masks and trying to get them to keep their hands to themselves would be a big challenge. We plan to just stick to our normal holiday routine by keeping it simple and just enjoying our close family this year.

Buffalo airport is also the benefactor of some funds this year. It was reported this past summer that Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) announced two federal grants totaling $2,061,984 to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) for snow removal equipment at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. The grants were awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration, under the U.S. Department of Transportation.
