The Buffalo Bills expected  to announce today they've agreed to terms with former NFL head coach Dave Wannstedt to join the Bills coaching staff in a newly created assistant head coach position.  He'll be in charge of linebackers to fill a position that opened up last week with the release of linebackers coach DeMontie Cross.  Wannstedt worked with Bills head coach Chan Gailey when Wanndstedt was head coach of the Miami Dolphins and Gailey was the Dolphins offensive coordinator.  Wandstadt was also served as head coach of the Chicago Bears and won a Super Bowl as defensive coordinator under Jimmy Johnson with the Dallas Cowboys.  Before that he was defensive coordinator under Johnson when the Miami Hurricanes won a national championship.

Wannstedt had been meeting this week with the San Diego Chargers and Cleveland Browns, so it's a good addition to the Bills staff to have a guy with so much experience and a winning background.  Wannstedt resigned last month as head coach at the University of Pittsburgh after guiding the Panthers to a 7 & 5 record.

Gailey calls Wannstedt "extremely knowledgeable.”  He calls him "a great team guy who would bring some intensity to our team because I know what burns inside of him.”
