Blue Cheese Flavored Beer Is Now A Reality

It's what people in Buffalo have been waiting for forever.  Something cool to go with their wings.  Say hello to blue cheese flavored beer.

Have people gotten out of control with their flavor combinations these days?  Or should the flavors be endless?  You never know what might be good until you've tried to put them together.  Once upon a time someone got laughed at because they put chocolate and peanut butter together.  It turns out, that's a big hit.

So what else could we combine?

Two companies in Oregon (I know, it's weird that this didn't happen in Buffalo, but could it?) decided to put together two different things in one beer.  One of them makes beer and the other makes cheese.  So they decided to collaborate on a "Blue Cheese Beer."  It is the brainchild of Rogue Creamery and the Crux Fermentation Project.  They called it CoolShip Beer No. 6.

If you're afraid of the strong flavor of blue cheese in the beer, they say not to worry.  The blue cheese is actually slight.

"It's a really nice balanced product that once you get to know it a little more, maybe sip two, three, glass, two or three, you may begin to pick up on that very, that slight hint of blue cheese on the finish" - Marguerite Merritt, cheese emissary for Rogue Creamery (KOIN-TV)

Would a blue cheese beer work in Buffalo?

Buffalo is one of the few places in the country that actually prefers blue cheese with our wings over ranch dressing.  So would a blue cheese beer work?  It might.  Even if it's just for people to sample.  There are enough people in Buffalo that are curious enough to try it.  So who is going to be the first of our many incredible breweries to try it out?
